Wordless Wednesday

Above: My favorite picture of my Italian grandmother, Giuseppa Napoli (June 11, 1914 - Feb 25, 1998).  The above picture was taken on her wedding day, April 1933.  I think she looks like Greta Garbo.

  1. Definitely a Garbo-esque look; she was quite a beauty. This reminds me so much of some "glamorous" photos of my mother and her sisters from the 1930s.

  2. She's lovely! I like the pose with the drapes. Very dramatic.

  4. It's so touching Astrid to see my own
mother --Giuseppa Ursino/Napoli -- (Josephine )in your blog.
Your grandmother was a real beauty queen but she was also my best friend . I 've been very lucky for sure ! I will miss her for the rest of my life . As you alreaady know everybody called your grandma "PINA" but you called her "NONNA"(grandma). My favorite picture is the one where you can see her very well , but of course I also like her Wedding Day's picture...Yes, she looked like Greta Garbo ,didn't she?...
